The bee signifies heat. As the background noise of the sunny day subsides, the bee can be heard and located, thanks to his full frequency-spectrum buzz. That said, the bee in the back garden, going from flower to flower, forms part of a background hum. It is only when it flies past my head that I notice its speed. The sound of the single bee is noisy and its motion in a confined space is erratic. The sound of the swarm suggests a graceful power teetering on the brink of chaos, yet at its heart is a huge drone, fixed yet fluid.

With this in mind I recorded a bee and started to synthesize a swarm.
